Amanda, a Communication major with an emphasis in Global Peacebuilding and a minor in German, joined MediaLab as a sophomore. Her interests include Public Relations, Journalism and Event Planning. In addition to overseeing MediaLab’s overall operations, Amanda works on several high–profile projects, including Tacoma Public Schools, Tacoma Community House, and the 2014 MediaLab documentary currently in production about global food waste. Amanda also serves as Public Relations Director for the Network for Peacebuilding and Conflict Management (NPCM), an on–campus club at Pacific Lutheran University that promotes peacebuilding in the community. Amanda aspires to work in human resources after graduation.
A Communication major with an emphasis in Journalism and a Business Administration minor, Valery became a MediaLab member in late Fall 2012. In less than a year, Valery was promoted to Journalism and Visual Media Team Leader. Valery’s writing and photographs have been published in the Peninsula Gateway, a weekly paper at which she interned in Summer 2013 and continues to freelance. In addition, Valery is a staff writer for University Communications, PLU’s marketing and information office. In addition, Valery was a member of MediaLab’s award–winning 2013 “Tapped Out” documentary team, and is a senior producer on the 2014 food waste documentary project. Valery plans to pursue a career in the news industry after graduating from PLU.
