Kortney Scroger ‘14

Video Team Leader

 

Kortney is majoring in communication with a concentration in public relations and advertising and pursuing a minor in women and gender studies. She is interested in all aspects of public relations, specifically event planning and working with non–profit organizations. Through Media Lab, Kortney has done video work for the Korean Women’s Association and the national debate society, Pi Kappa Delta. Currently, she is serving as MediaLab’s video team leader, and is the chief videographer and editor of the upcoming documentary “Tapped Out: Unearthing the Global Water Crisis.” Kortney has interned for the Tacoma Regional Convention and Visitor Bureau, where she helped the marketing department renovate its website and plan networking events and is currently a design intern for PLU’s School of Arts + Communication. She ultimately hopes to work for a non–profit organization such as an advocacy group that focuses on women’s issues.

Andrea Capere‘14

Videographer

 

Andrea is pursuing a bachelor of arts in sociology and a dual minor in women and gender studies and communication. She joined MediaLab in Dec. 2012. Her production credits include “The High Bar” with Warren Etheredge (set designer), “The Frames” (production designer), “The Shunned House” (production designer), “Hot Grits” (set designer), and “Merrily, Merrily” (director). Her productions have won regional and national awards and her work has been screened at Norwescon, Tacoma Film Festival, CthuhluCon Los Angeles and H.P. Lovecraft Film Festival in Stockholm, Sweden. Andrea is also a proud member of the International Alliance for Theatrical Stage Employees and is on the Board of Directors for the Alliance for Community Media, Northwest Region

Taylor Cox ‘15

Graphic Designer

 

Pursuing a bachelor of fine arts in graphic design, Taylor Cox joined MediaLab December 2012. Taylor is involved in PLU’s Resident Hall Council, and serves as Ordal Hall’s activity director. She studied away in Dubai, UAE during J–Term 2013 where she found a broader understanding of different cultures.

Samuel Hosman ‘14

Graphic Designer

 

Sam, a double major in Art and Comminication with an emphasis in Public Relations and Advertising, was accepted into MediaLab in Spring 2011. Apart from Medialab, Sam has done design work for Impact, ASPLU’s student run advertising organization, PLU’s School of Arts + Communication, the PLU School of Business, and the City of Tacoma. He is currently co–editor of PLU’s literary arts journal, Saxifrage.

Thomas Soerenes ‘14

Photographer/Public Relations

 

Thomas is a communication major with a concentration in journalism. He is from Bømlo, Norway and joined MediaLab in Dec. 2012. Thomas is interested in the visual aspects of media, especially photography. He has worked as photographer for PLU’s student newspaper, the Mooring Mast. Prior to his time at PLU he was the photography editor for Green River Community College’s student newspaper, The Current. Thomas plans to earn a graduate degree at the University of Oslo after graduation from PLU. He ultimately aims to enter a career in either photojournalism or media consulting.

Igor Strupinskiy ‘14

Photographer

 

A double major in Business and Economics with concentrations in Finance and Modern Economic Enterprise, Igor’s primary interests in terms of media are photography and photojournalism. His work has appeared in PLU’s student newspaper, the Mooring Mast, as well as being professionally published in The News Tribune of Tacoma and the Ft. Lewis Ranger. Igor was accepted into MediaLab for Spring semester 2012.
