A double major in Political Science and Global Studies, JuliAnne brings her global awareness to a wide range of MediaLab activities. Invited to join MediaLab in Spring 2011, JuliAnne serves as senior producer and researcher for the upcoming documentary “Sidetracked: Redefining Rail” and is a lead member of a research team producing a documentary on Islamophobia in the United States, a film that will premiere in Fall 2012. Suring the Summer of 2011, JuliAnne interned in the Media Relations Department of World Vision, the global relief organization headquartered in Federal Way, Wash. JuliAnne has also written articles and taken photos that have appeared in Tacoma Weekly and Scene magazine.
Katie, who joined MediaLab as a first–year student in Spring 2010, is a Communication major whose emphasis is Journalism. Katie was a senior researcher and producer on MediaLab’s award–winning documentary film “Overexposed,“ which premiered in Fall 2011. In addition, Katie has served as coordinator of the monthly ITVS (PBS documentary) screenings, produced articles that appeared in Scene, PLU’s alumni magazine, written news stories for the Puyallup Herald and other South Sound newspapers, and interned at the Kitsap Sun, a Scripps Co. daily newspaper in Bremerton. Katie will return to the Kitsap Sun during Summer 2012 for a 10–week reporting internship. Katie became MediaLab’s General Manager in August 2011.
